I think when you get into the 20 foot size range, the boat becomes obviously more substantial (weight) for a short trip like that. Believe me, I know many guys who make it over there in small boats, but I also know many guys who make it over there and can't get back because the weather kicked up a tiny bit. Always better to be safe than sorry. Just pick the right day and even try to follow a bout over there as a partner boat.Maybe find someone in the marina on the mainland side who's going to make the run and ask if you can tag along both ways??
